TIST: Technical and operational support for the application of the TIST model in Madagascar

TIST or The International Small Group and Tree Planting Program is a village reforestation model founded in 1999 in East Africa to help small groups of farmers who have decided to come together to plant trees in order to improve their landscape and their living conditions.

In 2023, after 24 years, more than 200,000 farmers are actively participating in the TIST program in Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and India. TIST provides these farmers with income for each living tree, as well as 70% of the profits from the sale of credits on the international voluntary carbon market.

Since 2021 TERAKA has benefited from the sustained support of the TIST team, the excellent reputation of the model on the market and the good practices identified by farmers to replicate the success of the TIST program in Madagascar.
